Kumihimo Disk, Plate, Instructions, Kits and E-Z Bob bobbins

We carry the original Hamanaka Kumihimo Disk and Plate designed by Makiko Tada and made in Japan; both are made with dense 3/8" (1cm) foam that is comfortable to work with and holds threads firmly, they just don't wear out! The disk and plate are a great introduction to Japanese braiding; they travel well and make wonderful tools for experimenting and sampling braids.

BraidersHand instructions are written in English, they cover set up, design, choosing threads, adding beads, finishing and instructions for the versatile round braid in 8 and 16 strands. The Plate instructions include the zig zag braid.

EZ Bobs are used as a way of bundling the threads so that they don't tangle while they are being braided. They are made in the USA.

The Kumihimo Disk is six inches in diameter and made of 3/8" dense foam. It is sturdy and holds the threads firmly. The experienced braider will enjoy using this disk to make samples and for portable projects.

We offer Instructions in English which are in color, two pages for eight end round braids, one eight end flat braid and a sixteen end round braid. There is also information on thread selection, using EZ Bobs and adding beads to braids. $3.00

Our Kumihimo Disk Kit includes a Disk, instructions in English, eight small EZ Bobs and yarn (8 ends each 1 yard long; "end" is a weavers term meaning "thread or yarn"), $17.95.

The Kumihimo Plate is six inches square and made of the same dense foam as the disk, the plate was developed to make flat braids.

Our Plate Instructions in English are for six braids, including a Zig Zag braid, in color and two page. There is also information on thread selection, using EZ Bobs and adding beads to braids. $3.00

Our Kumihimo Plate Kit includes a plate, instructions in English, ten small EZ Bobs and yarn (10 ends each 1 yard long), $17.95

E-Z Bobs allow the braider to control long warps on the disk and plate; depending on the thickness of the thread used, up to four yards can be loaded onto the small bobbins. Adjust the Bobs so that they all hang about three inches under the disk or plate. Made in the USA.

The large 3 1/2" EZ Bobs make good storage for long silk or Imposter warps, storing beads and other materials.
