Compiled by Shirley Berlin and Carol Goodwin
Shirley and Carol went through ten years of kumihimo sample exchanges to create this book. There are sixty braids from forty-two makers from around the world. Each braid has full instructions, comments from the maker and from the editors. The book is divided into eight chapters: Elegant Braids, Intriguing Structure, Use of Color, Unusual Materials, Useful Braids, Braids with Beads, Variations on a Theme: Kongo Gumi and on Kara Uchi Gumi. While the book was published in 2004 there is still a lot of good information in the appendices including: Exchange Groups, Improvised Equipment, Threads, Sources, Equipment, and Recommended Reading.
