Our Kumihimo Disk, Plate and Octo Plate are the original Hamanaka tools designed by Makiko Tada and made in Japan. These versatile and portable tools make it easy to explore many styles of kumihimo braiding.

The Kumihimo Disk is an excellent choice for creating round and flat braids and is especially useful for quickly setting up sample braids. The Kumihimo Plate offers additional design possibilities and has been used by Makiko Tada to develop many contemporary braid structures.

We offer disks and plates, as well as kits with English-language instructions and a selection of books covering this versatile braiding method.

We also carry small EZ Bobs, designed for use with the Kumihimo Disk, Plate, and Octoplate.
