Please note: Because our tama are made from solid hard maple, the natural variation in the wood means these tama may weigh approximately 40–45 grams. This small variation will not affect your braid.
Forty-gram tama are a lightweight choice for braids using fine threads or when lighter tension is desired.
Our tama are based on the shape of traditional Japanese tama. They hold a generous amount of thread and are shaped so they don't easily catch on one another. Made from hard maple, they are polished to a fine finish, sealed at both ends, and lightly coated with wax.
Choose tama weight according to the braid, number of ends, and thread or yarn being used. Heavier tama provide greater tension and can be better suited to larger threads or firmer braids.
