Makiko offers traditional and innovative braids for use on the Kumihimo Disk and Plate. She is the designer of the original Kumihimo Disk and Plate made by the Hamanaka Company in Japan. The flat braids can also be made on the Octo Plate.
Instruction for 21 braids on the disk; round, square, and with a core. Designs include traditional and core braids, one where the core stays in the center only to reappear on the outside of the braid and disappear again, and for several looped zigzag core braids.
There are 15 braids for the plate. They are traditional flat braids and Makiko's innovative zigzag, flat circle, and square spiral braids, which make very interesting necklaces and flowers, there are eight projects included.
