Makiko Tada presents traditional and innovative braids for the Kumihimo Disk and Plate. She designed the original Kumihimo Disk and Plate produced by the Hamanaka Company in Japan, and many of the flat braids may also be made on the Octo Plate.
The book includes instructions for 26 Disk braids, including round, square, and core braids, along with many traditional Japanese braid structures adapted for the Disk. It also presents 15 Plate braids, ranging from traditional flat braids to innovative designs unique to the Plate. Clear diagrams and full-color photographs make the techniques easy to study and reproduce.
Instructions are provided in both Japanese and English. Modern translation apps, such as Google Translate, can also help readers understand much of the accompanying Japanese text.
