The core stand was designed by Rodrick Owen for making Andean core braids and other braids made with a core. The overhead harness holds the core tama out of the way while braiding.
The stand works with both Japanese- and Western-style marudai. A 10"/25 cm BraidersHand marudai fits within the base; a 12"/30 cm marudai rests on top. If your marudai is made by another manufacturer, it should fit in a similar manner.
See Andean Sling Braids: New Designs for Textile Artists and Sling Braiding Traditions and Techniques for more information.
The photo shows a prototype; the current harness has hooks rather than notched arms. Marudai and tama are not included.
Current waiting time is approximately 6 months.
