Makiko Tada's fourth edition of her classic Maru-dai braids book has been expanded and published under the new title Comprehensive Treatise of Braids I: Maru-dai Braids 1. This edition features excellent new photographs of 120 traditional Japanese braids.
The sections covering materials and equipment have been expanded, the setup drafts are presented in color, and information on the number of Tama and counterweight is provided in English. Although the book is written primarily in Japanese, the English terminology and clear illustrations make it a valuable reference for braiders. Modern translation apps, such as Google Translate, can also help readers understand much of the accompanying text.
