The Laramie braid is a form of straw plaiting developed by Shirley Berlin and Carol Goodwin during a long drive across Wyoming—hence its name. Worked around a core, it creates a distinctive ridged spiral.

Beginning with the basic technique, this book guides you through making your first Laramie braid and then explores variations using beads, wire, linked warps, and closures. Additional designs include the Corkscrew Spiral Braid and Hide-and-Seek Braid. Instructions are written for the kumihimo disk, although the braids can also be made on the marudai.
